Richard has an honours degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Exeter.

He has since extended his practical knowledge of exercise and sport.  Richard has attained Certified Personal Trainer status recognised by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  He is a fully qualified Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and will soon be fully accredited by the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

He spent a year working as an intern with Sport 981 at an LTA High Performance Centre at Loughborough.  He worked with the Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning training elite British tennis players aged between 10-14.

He is a Pilates teacher, trained by a leading exponent of the practice, Alan Herdman.   In addition he is an instructor in Postural Correction certified by Advanced Training Philosophies Ltd, spinning, rebounding, TRX suspension training, aqua exercise, and is a level 1 Tennis Assistants Coach.

Richard is also the Boot Camp leader at Champneys Health Resorts, where he delivers extremely successful 7 night, 4 night and 2 night Boot Camp breaks.  Recently, the Boot Camps have been voted as one of the top ten Boot Camps in the UK.

Richard runs Online Personal Training.

Richard also runs various bespoke Health and Fitness breaks all around the country.

Richard likes a challenge and once a year raises money for charity this way. Last year he swam the length  of the English Channel (22 miles/1408 lengths of a 25m pool).  It took him 16 hours and 12 minutes and the only thing that kept him going was the £3400 raised for Brain Tumour UK in honour of his Uncle.
