Four Supplements To Think About

Supplements should always be viewed as exactly that – Supplements.  Supplement a healthy eating plan and you will get even better results.  Supplement a poor eating plan and you will get nowhere fast.

These are my top 4 supplements I would definitely consider using if your are serious about your health:

Number 1Omega 3 – Fish Oil – omega 3 is an important component of the membranes of fat cells.  We need enough to keep the cells lubricated so the fat can get out.   Omega 3 also reduces inflammation, improves memory and brain function.  Improvements in skin complexion are another big factor.

We generally don’t consume enough Omega 3 and too much Omega 6, of a ratio of around 7-1 in favour of Omega 6, whereas for optimum health we should maintain a ration of at least 4-1 and even as much as 2-1.  Omega 3 can be consumed by eating salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines, and green leafy vegetables.  If you feel you are not consuming enough of these foods then supplementing you diet will reap massive benefits.

Number 2 – Multi-vitamin and minerals – poor diet may mean a deficiency in some vitamins and minerals, therefore may need to supplement to increase levels quickly.  Need good balance for the body to work efficiently and burn fat.  So again if you are not consuming 7-9 portions of a variety of vegetables (not fruit) every day then there is a large chance you are not getting enough vitamins and minerals into your body.

Number 3 – Green tea/Oolong Tea – the flavanoids in green tea and oolong tea‘up regulate’ fat burning chemicals in the body by helping them work better and more efficiently.  They also supply the body with plenty of antioxidant nutrients which are important as we become more active.  A green tea extract taken in supplement form will have greater levels of these flavonoids and antioxidants.  If you just drink green tea you would have to drink over 9 cups a day to get any benefit of the ‘up-regulation’.

Number 4 – Virgin Organic coconut oilExchange other fats such as sunflower oil and sources of saturates with coconut oil, don’t just add it to your diet. It Increases metabolic rate, improves digestive health and boosts your immune system.  Some people (such as Gwyneth Paltrow even apply it to their face for a beauty treatment.

So there you have it.  I would seriously recommend everyone to get these in your healthy eating plan.
